Making The Band

KSM is an all-female American rock band from Los Angeles, California formed in 2006, consisting of Shelby Cobra (lead vocals), Katie Cecil (guitar/vocals), Sophia Melon (bass guitar), Shea Padilla (lead guitar) and Kate Cabebe (drums).

The group released their debut track Hero In You in 2008 on the Walt Disney Records compilation Girlz Rock 2. They toured with the Tour of Gymnastics Superstars in the fall of 2008, and were featured in the televised broadcast of the tour on MyNetwork TV.

KSM is recording their first album on Buena Vista Records with producer/songwriters Matthew Gerrard and Robbie Nevil.[citation needed]

KSM got its start in 2006 when the band The Go-Go's decided to mentor a new all-girl teen rock band.
All-girl rock group KSM started out as an idea hatched by Disney and legendary rockers The Go-Go's. Their first track, Hero in You appeared on Disney's Girlz Rock 2, and then in the fall of 2008 they toured with the Tour of Gymnastic Superstars. Now the girls have a new single, Distracted, which can be found on Radio Disney Jams 11, and perform the theme for new ABC comedy 10 Things I Hate About You.
 But the biggest news yet is that KSM is on the road this summer with Demi Lovato! Prepare to see and hear much more from KSM this year.

Shelby Cobra
15 year old Shelby sings lead vocals and has been singing into the TV Remote since she was four. After pursuing musical theater until she was 12, Shelby started leaning towards performing and writing rock music, and the rest is history.



Kate Cabebe
18 year old Kate rocks out on the drums, and lists Travis Barker as one of her major inspirations. Kate is the band's comedian and prankster and loves to make everyone laugh. She even toilet-papered their music director's car!


Katie Cecil
15, Katie is originally from Ohio and started out as an actress before turning to music. Now she plays guitar and helps out with the vocals, which is natural since she's been singing as long as she can remember. She also loves photography and sushi.


Sophia Melon
Sophia is 17 years old and plays a hot pink bass guitar. She says she writes songs both to remember and to forget, and loves the song Hotel California. Sophia is also a retro rock chick; she wishes she lived in the '60s and her favorite movie is Almost Famous.


Shae Padilla
At 18, Shae is the mom of the group and plays lead guitar. She first picked up an axe at 12 and hasn't been able to put it down since. Shae loves pets, including her two cats and a dog, and in the past she's even hat rats and a salamander!
